I’m Dr. Rick Housewright. It’s nice to meet you.

My Story:

I’m Dr. Rick Housewright. It’s nice to meet you.

My story begins at the age of 14 when I was diagnosed with scoliosis. A school nurse during PE class gave me a piece of paper to take home to my parents. I didn’t have a clue how that one note was going to change my life. It instructed my parents to send me to an orthopedist who requested x-rays at a local hospital. After the x-ray, he sat down with my parents and myself. He advised that I would be fitted for a Milwaukee brace to wear until my spinal surgery. At that time, two metal rods would be placed in my upper and lower spine. He was adamant I get the surgery to prevent unnecessary pressure on my spine and ribcage due to my vital organs including my heart and kidneys. He was concerned this would shorten my lifespan. The crazy part is I had no symptoms or any idea I was in such a serious condition. He also recommended I not play any more sports. I remember crying when we were driving home from the visit. Not because of the surgery, the scars caused by the surgery or even wearing the geeky brace, but because sports were my life and I felt fine.

Shortly after that visit and before I had the spinal surgery, my father was cutting a chiropractor’s hair. He had coached me in peewee baseball before he went to chiropractic college to become a chiropractor. He asked how I was and my Dad explained the scoliosis diagnosis and surgery plan. He asked if he could see me before the surgery to see if he could help. None of my family had seen a chiropractor but we trusted him as a coach. He took x-rays, however, his treatment plan was totally different. I could play sports, receive chiropractic adjustments three times a week and not wear the brace. He would re-x-ray me every four months and I progressed after a year to 90% correction. I then went to maintenance care at age 16 and at that point, I knew I was going to be a chiropractor. Now, 30+ years later, I have helped thousands of patients restore their lives to better health without drugs or surgery. I believe I can help you too. If not, I will refer you to someone who can.

My Approach:

My fundamental belief is that God created our bodies to be self-healing and self-regulated. Our bodies only need proper attention and it will provide the quality life we desire. Stress, whether physical, chemical, mental, or spiritual, causes our nervous system to fail and malfunction. This results in a condition known as subluxation which robs our bodies’ ability to function or heal properly.

First, we have to detect subluxation by evaluating posture, evaluating mobility and/or taking x-rays if necessary. Second, we have to decide what chiropractic technique are best for you as an individual patient. Third, we must craft a proper adjustment and determine a frequency to relieve the symptoms.  This will restore proper neurologic expression and/or function. Fourth, we must complete this phase of care and then follow up with regular maintenance. See, the body does not need any help, it just doesn’t need interference. When stress is not managed properly, subluxations occur and interference results between our brain and body. This is the beginning of dysfunction and disease.

My desire is that through proper education and specific chiropractic adjustments, your brain will communicate with your body to a higher potential improving your overall health and well-being.

My Philosophy:

We focus on optimal neurological potential of the brain, body, and spirit.

Aligning our spirit with God’s Word.
Aligning our beliefs with God’s promises.
Aligning our faith with God’s calling Aligning our spines with God’s healing.
